Topic: Sensing, Perception, and Machine Learning for Autonomous Driving
Abstract
The sensing and perception system of autonomous driving cars leverages state of art of machine learning (ML) technology to convert the sensor (including camera, lidar, radar, etc) data to a semantics, geometric, and kinematics understanding of the world. In this talk, we will cover the basics of L4/5 self-driving car technology with the emphasis on how ML is employed in its Perception system.Â
Bio
Dr. Wang received the PhD degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey in 2019. His research interests are statistical signal processing and machine learning with applications in radar systems. From February 2020, he has been leading the Radar Perception team at Cruise LLC, a leading self-driving company. From July 2018 to January 2020, he was with Aurora Automation, where he had helped to establish its first generation of machine learning driven radar perception system for self-driving cars.
